It is an Innovation and Research in Teaching project aimed at improving university teaching through classroom practices. For this purpose, a qualitative research process in which students and faculty work together to analyse the classroom practices – its design, development and assessment – and envision improvements is opened. The main question is how we can help the student body improve their learning.

Inspired on the Action Research premises, we design a data collection process which allows a later discussion with those involved to assess the development of what happened in the classroom and how to improve it. Thus, through planning, development and assessment of a “study and learning lesson”, the aim is to design improvements in university teaching for several subjects in different educational curricula.

Finally, the development of a Video-Guide entitled “Improving University Teaching” will be carried out and the main results of the project, as well as the methodology used, will be presented. At the same time, a roadmap will be designed for those who are interested in introducing improvements in their teaching work at any educational level.

The project was developed for two years and funded by the Vice-chancellorship for Academic Management and Faculty from the University of Cantabria within the framework of its III Teaching Innovation Competition.

The project team is made up of faculty and researchers from the University of Cantabria and Oviedo Faculty of Learning and Faculty of Learning and Teacher Training, respectively.
